1. People think in the such way because all news, events they know with help of TV and radio. They also influence influence people's views, opinions.
2. There are some Russian broadcasting corporations, but the most popular of them is radioholding "Prof-Media" (PMBC). Speaking about  the British one, it is BBC, that is known all over the world.
3. We have 4 or 5 federal channels and a little bit regional channels. But many Russians use satellite antennas, which allow to watch all programmes from all countries. 
4. Usually I prefer to watch federal channels with news such as Russia 1 or The First Channel.
